Standards and processes for on-set safety vary significantly between armoury companies and individual supervising armourers.
TADL unique weapons safety procedures and successful track record have been developed through experience gained across a wide range of professional environments. Time spent at The Gunmakers Company where firearms are routinely loaded with live ammunition and discharged daily provided a sobering and valuable foundation, instilling a deeply ingrained commitment to rigorous weapons safety. The considerable military experience of TADL personnel has also played a significant role in shaping these procedures.
Comprehensive written risk assessments are prepared and distributed in advance of filming. Dynamic risk assessments are then carried out during rehearsals, supported by practical tuition and clear verbal instruction. In addition, our exclusive “Armoury Film Set Etiquette” leaflets are provided to on-set weapons operators reinforcing safe working practices.
